Heat exchanger for an automotive pre-heater. Two moulds, each with two parting directions.
A heat exchanger for an engine pre-heater. The job was complicated by the part having two parting directions and by the biscuit, which has to break away as the mould opens.
Design decisions
- Two moulds were designed, each with two parting directions.
- Central feed with the biscuit broken off as the mould opens — this removes a separate runner-trimming operation.
- Three slides in each mould.
The package was handed over with complete documentation and 3D models ready for manufacture.
